Find Insurance: Young Adults

Getting Started

Most Massachusetts residents are now required to have health insurance. We can help you find the right health plan and avoid monthly tax penalties.

Exclusive: Plans Just For 18-26 Year-Olds.

Get the health insurance you need. After all, you never know what will happen.

Young Adult Plans from the state’s Health Connector cover your needs and help you avoid tax penalties, even the options that don’t include prescription drugs. Only here. Exclusively through our Commonwealth Choice program.

Commonwealth Choice gives you better prices and benefits on brand-name health plans. You compare, shop and enroll.

Don't think you can afford a plan? You might be eligible for a no or low-cost Commonwealth Care plan. We'll let you know.

Congratulations, Graduates! Now About That Health Insurance Thing...

...Student health insurance through your school will end soon after graduation. You may need a new health plan to be safe and avoid monthly tax penalties.

Did You Know...

…that you can stay on a parent or guardian’s health insurance for 2 years after you are no longer claimed as a dependent on their taxes? If they have a Massachusetts-based health insurance plan and you are age 25 or younger, it’s possible.

Self Employed?

Eligibility for a subsidized Commonwealth Care plan is based on income. If you are self employed, that number will be based on your total business income listed or allowable on your U.S. Tax Return. Contact us if you have questions.

Are You Exempt?

You may not be required to have health insurance if you have low income or special circumstances. Use our Affordability Tool to find out. You can apply for a Certificate of Exemption if you have a special hardship.

Is an employer involved?

Were you sent here by your employer to shop for a plan? Go to our “for employees” area.  There is information on employer eligibility.  You can also learn if your employer has signed-up with the Health Connector.
